Evolving Internet: class #12

Network monitoring

Course 11: End-to-end path monitoring

This course explains the main techniques that have been proposed to understand what is going along an Internet path. This includes solutions to measure the bandwidth, delay, and loss rate. The course will also address solutions to infer the performance of network links from end-to-end measurements. You can access the course slides here (common with Courses 12 and 13).

Logic quirk in ISPs

Some ISPs block ICMP with the security tag, even though ping is fairly harmless. At the same time they do nothing to stop serious problems like SYN floods.

Unclear, need to ask the teachers, since most is obviously derived works.
